Reworked Box 10 for Tuckaway

I reworked the inside of this box so that my Tuckaway fits better. It was bumping on the lid when I tried to close it. Turning the razor in the box gave enough clearance that it does not bump now.

New Case for New Improved Tuckaway

I decided to make a case for my Gillette New Improved Tuckaway razor that I had plated with rhodium. I made the box with walnut, maple, and cedar. I lined it with some red velvet cloth.

Gillette NEW DeLuxe - 1930

I found this NEW DeLuxe Norfolk Tuckaway in Fletcher today. It has lots of scrapes on the case, the liner is all faded out, there is a small crack at the base of the handle, and there is plate loss on the razor, but I am very happy with the find. The first two pictures are before cleaning. 

I cleaned it up and buffed it a bit. Here are the results.

The Serial # indicates a 1930 date of manufacture, 16586D. This is the
last year that serial numbers were put on razors.

Gillette Tuckaway Arrives

I sent my Tuckaway off for a new rhodium finish. It arrived today from Sport Shaving. I will put it into service beginning Monday, July 10.

Tuckaway Done and Coming Home

My New Improved has been repated with rhodium and will be coming home soon. I am looking forward to getting it back in the fold. It looks terrific. Thanks, Nick.

Gillette New Improved Being Replated

I sent off my silver New Improved to be replated with rhodium. It arrived at its destination on June 9. The expected completion will be in the window of July 7-14. As of today, I am about halfway through the wait period. Here is what it looked like when sent.
