GEM Reversible Blades

I was given a tuck of Gem Micromatic Reversible Blades. I had never heard of them at the time and wondered how they could be used in a Gem Micromatic razor. As I started opening each blade, I found that they were all to some extent smitten with rusty edges. Here are pictures as I opened the first blade.
The center hold indexes the blade from side to side. When the lid is lowered, tabs in the lid will come down and go in the cutouts on each side. It will eventually push the blade forward into the blade stops. As it says on the blade, "Fits only Gem Micromatic Razors."
Unfortunately, every blade had its edges infested with rust. It was a good idea that did not last.

Shave of the Day - 7/7

Nivea Men Face Wash
Jeeves of Hudson Street Shaving Soap
Jayaruh #199
GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
GEM Reversible SE
CWR
Thayer's Lemon WH
Lucky Tiger

The Jeeves of Hudson Street Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #199 synthetic brush. I did the two passes with the GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip razor and GEM Reversible SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. It was smooth with no issues. I washed the blade and belly stropped it before putting it back in the razor for tomorrow's adventure in Reversible blade shaving. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Well, today, I tried out a GEM Reversible blade for the first time. @jimjo1031 sent me three to try out. The first one I opened looked good, so I was determined to give it a try. I got out my GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip for this shave. It is my birth era razor, introduced in 1947, my birth year.
