I finally got my art deco blade bank for my Aristocrat 46-47. First two pictures from eBay.

Here it is in its new home.

Blade Banks

What do you do with your used razor blades. In the past, medicine cabinets would have a slot in them that you could drop your old blades through. It was a great idea until you have to remove the wall for renovations.

I made a couple of blade banks for blade disposal. The first was made with a Noxzema face wash jar. I cleaned it out and cut a slit in the top. I glued an old blade on top for decoration, and I made a label that I attached with double sided tape and finished off with packing tape to keep it water proof.

The second, I made from an empty hand cream jar. It is a little bigger, but I used the same techniques for making it that I did for the first. I especially like the label. I made for it with the Gillette baby shaver. It works great. It will take years to fill. In the mean time, it makes a nice display.

Shave of the Day - 10/17

Dove Men's Face Wash
Col. Conk Lime Shave Soap
Parker Pure Badger Brush
Gillette Slim Adjustable H1 (first shave)
Shark Super Chrome (17)
CWR
Dickinson's Witch hazel
Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS

A morning shave today with the Col. Conk Lime soap was very refreshing. It was also the maiden shave with my new Gillette Slim Adjustable set on 6 for starts. I did two passes for a clean comfortable near BBS shave. This was shave 17 with the Shark Super Chrome blade, and it did outlast the partial federal shutdown, thank God. I hand-stropped it and put it aside for one more shave, then I think I will retire it. Finished off with Dickinson's WH and some Aqua Velva Ice Blue.

Update:  I decided to go ahead and retire the blade. It had a good run. This is my new blade bank that I made recently.

Shave of the Day 8/20

Noxzema Classic Clean
Proraso Sandalwood Shave Cream
Parker Pure Badger Brush
Gillette Super Speed Y1 (1953)
Wilkinson Sword Super Chrome (8)
Shark Super Chrome (21)
CWR
Dickinson's Witch hazel
Pinaud Clubman AS

I left the Noxzema on after the face wash as a pre-shave treatment while I lathered up the Proraso.  The shave was excellent. For the third pass, I broke out the Shark that had 20 shaves on it already. I finished up with the Shark. It was an incredible ride. I retired the Shark after the shave.
