Shave of the Day - 10/13

It has been ten days since my last shave. I am feeling really bad about not entering into Open Comb OCtober. With the wife's help, I assembled my modest equipment for today's shave.

I chose:
Barbasol Original Shave Cream
TOST LE Synthetic brush
Gillette Double Ring razor (1905)
Gillette Silver Blue DE blade
Cella After Shave.

I applied cold water to my face with the brush. Then I squirted a bit of Barbasol onto the end of my brush and built a great lather on my 10 day old beard. I had decided that I would go for a full goatee, today. I did the first pass, and this 114 year old razor with its open comb and sharp Gillette Silver Blue blade reduced the significant areas with ease. I almost opted to call it a shave, but decided to lather up one more time and do a clean up pass ATG. Light easy strokes left me with a clean, close shave. I did a cold water rinse and finished off with Cella After Shave. I am looking fine and feeling fine right now. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed.

The Leg 6 Days after Impact

I am about an hour and a half from discharge and heading down to Hendersonville fro rehab. Marcia wanted to document the leg with pictures. I cannot really see it without pictures. I am still wondering how I fell and on what I landed to do all of this damage. I am also so thankful to God for preserving me for His glory. I will certainly be moving much slower for the next few weeks.

Update:
October 12, 2019
I had a very bad overnight at a Hendersonville rehab center. Marcia got me out the next morning. We decided to go the home healthcare route. I am very happy to be home with my Sweetie. She is so good to me.

I have not shaved for 8 days now. I am thinking of doing a shave tonight.

I Take a Fall

About 1 pm today, I was attempting to put some leaf guards on the top of my gutters. I am officially stupid. I attempted to stand on the top of the ladder, and it tipped. Gravity took over, and I fell the six feet plus my height to the ground. I fell on my right side and lost most of my breath. I took stock of everything and rolled over to my back. I found I could not extend my left leg. About that time my wife comes out. She had heard a big bang from the ladder hitting the house. She saw me and said she saw my bloody face with blood running down into my ear. She was very supportive and right away wanted to call 911. I told her to wait. After about three minutes, she went ahead and called. I could not extend my knee and knew I could not get up.

EMS arrived and evaluated me. They asked where I would like to be taken and I told them Pardee which is local. She had to get permission because of my age. I heard her say she had an elderly man who had fallen from a ladder. Well, she got permission. We made it to the ER. They took xrays. Turns out I broke the plateau of my tibia, tore my quadraceps ligament, and displaced my knee cap. Then they did a cat scan. It looked bad. There was no one local who could deal with my trama, so they got permission to transport me to Asheville Mission Hospital. It is very nice here. Got here about 10:30. I am settled in now.My youngest son came up from Simpsonville SC. My oldest will be coming Sunday and staying the week. I will have surgery at 7:30 in the morning. I would appreciate all of your prayers that the surgery would go well and that I will eventually make a full recovery. It has been quite a day.

This is David and me. I am pretty happy.
