The Cella Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #13 Black Pure Badger brush. Two passes with my Ever-Ready 1912 razor and a Treet Super blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. Test Latering: #12 and #13

This is the second lathering with the new knots. After lathering, I let them sit for about 10-15 minutes. They are going into service on Monday starting with #12, the squarish handle. This time I used Razorock's P.160 shaving soap. It lathered up pretty well.

Three Jayaruhs Waiting on Knots

I have completed three brush handles this month. They are all unique. From left to right are:

  • Jayaruh #11 - This one is a simple design that is finished with just polyurethane.
  • Jayaruh #12 - A gentleman on TSD inspired this design. It is squarish and has a great feel. It was finished with Golden Pecan stain and then polyurethane.
  • Jayaruh #13 - I call this "The Chubby." It is stained with Golden Oak and finished off with polyurethane.
I have two black badger knots on the way. I ordered them when I only had two brush handles. Then, I made the #13. Now, I will have to decide which two will get the new knots. This is No Buy July, so it will be August before I get any more knots. I really like making these brushes and putting knots in them. Four of the brushes I made have new owners now.

Jayaruh #13: The Chubby

No Buy July continues, so I am coping by making some handles. Today, I started #13, "The Chubby." I had cut some stock into a hexagon shape before, so today I just had to cut off a section 2 1/4 inch long. I used a compass and drew a circle on each end and sanded it down to a cylinder shape. I then used my trusty Swiss Army knife to get the initial shape. I then sanded and smoothed. I created a knot hole with my Dremel method. More smoothing with 220 grit sand paper, and I called it a day. Here are the pictures.

I am thinking that I will get a 24mm silver tip for it. The hole right now is undersized (22mm). I like to get the knot and then open the hole to fit the knot.

I stained and sealed it with Minwax Golden Oak.

Second coat of polyurethane
