The Arko Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #127 silvertip badger brush. I did two passes the Gillette Fatboy and Wilkinson Sword Super Sword blade, I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Jayaruh #127 Test Lathering

I found a new shaving cream at the Dollar Tree. Now, I know why it was at the Dollar Tree. The Wit & Wisdom Spiced Cedar can be found online for $25, but it is not worth the $1 at the Dollar Tree. Well, at least that is my opinion for now. It does not lather, no matter how much you use. As far as aiding in shaving, I will have to try it some day with a shave, but for now, I am setting it aside.

Now, on to some good shave soap. I broke out the Soap Commander Renewal. I have been using it for initial lather tests with new brushes. It does not disappoint. I loaded the brush for 20 seconds, and the brush became a lathering machine.

I was not satisfied with the shape and feel of the #127, so, I decided I would rework it. I cut some off the top and bottom and did a little further shaping of the middle.

The final shape has a nice feel to it.

Razor Stands

I traded away my JR#90 brush and matching razor stand. I really liked that brush. It was one of my favorites. So, I decided I would make replacements. They are made with oak laminated with purple heart wood. Below are two razor stands and the brush handle I made recently. I am waiting on a Game Changer synthetic knot for the handle.

This is the razor I got in exchange for the JR#90 and matching stand. It is a 1937 Gillette Sheraton.

Jayaruh #127 Started

I traded off one of my favorite brushes, so today, I decided to make a similar handle. It is oak with purple heart. I glued it up, sawed off the corners, and shaped it with the drum sander. I used no lathe with this one. I went back to old school. My drill press made making the hole easier than using the Dremel with a 1/8 inch bit. At the end of the day, It is fully shaped. I just need to do a lot of hand sanding to get it really smooth. Then I will finish it with some Polycrylic.

While I was at it, I made a couple of matching razor stands.

Update: November 3, 2016
After final sanding, I have finished the handle with two coats of Polycrylic sanding between coats.

 Then I branded and numbered the handle.
