Very nice shave today. The Semogue 1305 boar brush face lathered the Col. Conk Bay Rum for two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Slim and Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless blade. I got a near BBS shave with no irritation. I finished off with a cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. Aaah! Mighty fine shave.

Today was a great shave after two days of OUCH!... I may revisit the ER24 later, but today was amazing. The VDH Luxury Shave Soap face lathered almost effortlessly with the Parker Black Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Slim loaded with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless blade provided a smooth, irritation-free, near BBS shave. This was the second shave with the Ever-Ready 1924. I got a good shave, but I got a couple of weepers. I went slow with a light touch and shallow angle, but I don't think this razor is for me. It will go in the show case. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Semogue 1305 boar brush allowing two passes and clean ups with the ER24. A cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS left me clean, smooth, and refreshed.

This was a first shave today with the Ever-Ready 1924. I took my time, and I got an excellent near BBS shave. The VDH Deluxe face lathered well with the Frank Shaving finest badger brush. Two easy passes and touch ups with the ER24. This is a fairly aggressive razor, but it delivered a great shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and some Family Dollar Old Spice AS. Nice...

It was a mighty fine shave. The Parker black badger brush face lathered the Cella Shave Cream very nicely. It allowed for two passes and touch ups with the Merkur 37c slant and Shark Super Chrome blade. After the traditional cold water rinse, I followed with Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I'm feeling clean, smooth, and refreshed.

Single Edge Razor Blades

The selection of single edge blades is limited compared to double edge blades. My prefered blade for my Gem/Ever-Ready razors is the GEM by Personna. It is a stainless steel blade that is PTFE coated. It shaves very smoothly and last a long time.

 The Treet blade is a carbon steel blade. They don't last as long as the stainless, but they are good shavers. I had some of these included with the ER24 I got in January of 2014.

I use the genuine Schick injector blades for my Schick injector razors. They are hard to beat. They are smooth and long lasting.

It was a nice shave today. The Semogue 1305 boar brush face lathered the Col. Conk amber shave soap nicely for two passes and touch ups. I experienced a little tugging with the Shark super chrome blade in the Merkur 37c slant, but I ended up with a near BBS shave with no irritation. A cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS made this shave one of the best. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed.

Every-Ready 1924

This is the Ever-Ready 1924, shovelhead razor. It opens from the back and hinges on the front. This one has the short handle. It is designed for the head to lay flat on the face.

What a refreshing shave today!. The Frank Shaving finest badger face lathered the Col. Conk Lime to make two passes and clean-ups. The Merkur 37c with the Shark Super Chrome blade gave a near BBS shave. The cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Family Dollar Old Spice AS completed this smooth, clean shave.

I am back to my hot water shave routine. I face lathered the Proraso Green SC with my Parker pure badger brush. It took two passes and some clean-ups with the Merkur 37c slant with a Shark Super Chrome blade to give me a near BBS face. After my traditional cold water rinse I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS.

Two New Razors

This is the Ever-Ready 1924 "Shovelhead." It is a single edge razor that hinges on the front. This one is in really nice shape, and I am looking forward to trying it out. I am happy to add it to my collection.

This is a Gillette travel tech, B1. So it was manufactured in 1956. These have little short handles, but they are great shavers. I have one from 1962 that is in a leather case already, but this one was sold with the ER 1924, so, I gladly took it. I may gift it some time later.

Well, that was an experience. I took the cold water shave challenge today. I started with a cold water face wash with Dove Men's FW. I face lathered with TOBS Lavender SC and the Semogue 1305 boar brush using cold water. Two passes and touch ups with the Merkur 37c slant and Shark Super Chrome blade left me near BBS. I've been rinsing with cold water for the last year, so that was nothing new, but I was glad to be almost through. I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. The shave was a success, but I don't think I will be revisiting a full cold water shave anytime in my near future if ever. I appreciate the warm water for my shave followed by cold for the rinse. That is where I will be living I think.

Like I said, " It was a mighty fine shave."

I tried something new today. After washing my face with the Dove Men's Face Wash, I applied the Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap directly to my face. I had put the soap into an empty push-up deodorant container. It worked great. I wiped it on and then face lathered with the Frank Shaving Finest badger. I did two light passes and touch ups with the Merkur 37c slant for a near BBS. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and FD Old Spice AS. I'm feeling clean and refreshed.
