Jayaruh #10 Test Lathering

This is the first lathering with the new Jayaruh #10 synthetic shave brush. I chose Williams Shave Soap because of its supposed reputation for hard to lather. I keep my Williams in Grandpa Lowe's shaving mug.

I wet the brush and gently squeezed it. I then loaded the brush for 30 seconds which is my standard for loading hard soaps.

I added a little water and began to make the lather.

After adding a little more water, this is what I ended up with. Plenty of lather for two or three passes. The brush is soft but has plenty of backbone. I plan to start using this brush starting Saturday, July 11.

Fathers Day 2015

It is great to be a father, and especially a father of three great fathers: Phil, Tim, and David.

We got to spend some time with youngest son David and his family on Friday. I got a UV protective hat and a tube of C.O. Bigelow Hair and Body Wash as a gift. Thanks, Dave and family.

I got a gift card from Phil and also from Tim for Amazon. I have already made my order. I ordered a new Italian shave soap, RazoRock P.160.

I also ordered two synthetic brush knots for two handles I have finished except for the knots. I am looking forward to putting the new knots in them upon their arrival.

The last thing I got was a book: The Forgotten Trinity by Dr. James White. I got the paperback version and after I checked out I was offered the ebook version for $2.99, so I got that, too. Now, I am reading that on my computer while I wait for the paperback to arrive. Thanks, Phil and Tim, for the Amazon gift cards.

Jayaruh #10 Begins

I had a hexagonal piece sitting around, so today, I got out and began shaping it. I really like the shape of my #6 handle, so I am tweaking it a bit. This one is a bit shorter.

I didn't take pictures of the blank or initial shaping, but these were taken at three stages. The top picture is at the end of stage three. The original blank was cut on my table saw, but all other work was done without electricity except for making the knot hole which was done with my Dremel. The rest of the work was done with rasp, files, hand saw, and sandpaper.
