Jayaruh #96 Revisited

Jayaruh #96 was originally made of purple heart and hickory. To me, it was really a bit big, and I had often thought of revising it. Today, I did what I had been thinking for a long time. I removed the hickory part of the handle. 

Here it is after I removed the bottom part. I really like the two-band badger knot, and this stubby version will work much better.

 I used my wood burner to burn the JR 96 on the bottom. It is now ready to go back into service.

JR#96 Test Lather

It has been a while since I finished the #96. Today, I decided to do a test lather and get the knot to bloom. The knot is a two-band badger from Virginia Sheng. I got three at the same time, and I have been very pleased with the way it lathers and feels against the face. I used Soap Commander Renewal for the first lathering with this brush. 

Four Brushes Finished Today

The Virginia Sheng two-band badger knots arrived today, so I was able to complete the #96, #97, and #100 brushes.

Then there is the Jayaruh #102. I glued up the handle last week and cut it out. Today, I decided to make a stubby handle out of it. It was just the right size and color for the Maggard 22mm synthetic knot. 

Jayaruh #96

The #96 is made of hickory on the bottom and purple heart on top. I have not decided on a knot yet. It may be a two-band badger or a big Omega boar. My mind is not made up yet. Pictured below you see it with a Tuxedo synthetic and an Omega boar.

Jayaruh #93-97

I have completed handles 93-97 except for the knots. They are ready to receive a knot, and then they will be completed.
