Today's shave was inspired by my friend Mike F. He suggested that two hand cleaners made for a quick clean shave if you are in a hurry. The hand cleaners are Goop and Purple Power.  I found a tub of Purple Power at Walmart for $2.47. Here is today's shave.

After a cold water rince, the Purple Power Creme Hand Cleaner went on well without a brush. One quick pass and touch ups with the Gem Flying Wing and Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. Pretty good for one pass.  After a cold water rinse I finished off with Dickinson's Witch Hazel and then Lilac Vegetal. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Using an Injector Blade in the MMBT

Here is something I have scheduled for next week's shaves. I will be trying an injector blade in my MMBT Flying Wing. I am using a Supply Black Label injector blade. I put the edge up against the stops and closed the lid. Looking at the back you can see where the lid tab is pressing against the back of the blade. Looking at the front, the blade appears to be in a secure attitude, ready for shaving. I will be using this Monday through Friday (9/12-16) next week if all goes well.

My Micromatics

I was motivated to look through and find my Micromatic razors. It turns out I have seven: two OCs (top), two CPs (second row), and three BTs (bottom three). I got the last bullet tip last August when I was in Rhode Island. I had taken my Schick H as my travel razor, but it had a bad blade in it and I hadn't taken any spares. I could not find any injector blades in RI, so I went to an antique store and found a plastic tip MMBT razor. I easily found some SE blades and I was back in business. Here are the seven razors I found.

Gem Micromatic Bullet Tip

I just got this in the mail today. It has some plate loss and needs cleaning pretty badly, but it seems to be in good mechanical condition.

I put it through a sonic cleaning with Dawn and hot water three times followed by a toothbrush scrubbing, and it came out beautiful.

This one also has the "Guiding Eye."

Micromatic Flying Wing

In my hunt for birth year razors, I found out that the Micromatic Flying Wing was introduced in 1947. It is the one with the Guiding Eye machined on the cap. I found one on the Bay for a good price.

When it arrived today, I didn't bother with pictures. It went straight to the Dawn soak and then toothbrush scrub. Here are pictures after the clean up. There is a  little plating loss on the bullet tip, but it is in otherwise very good shape.

Here it is next to my silver tone bullet tip. It has not guiding eye and evidently is 48-49.

Next I decided to compare my four Micromatics on my kitchen scale.
