March 1 Hauls

I got a couple of razors in the mail today. The first is a Gillette Fatboy G2 with a tuck of PolSilver blades. I won it in the TSD Raffle in February. Thanks to John B. for donating this prize.

Next, I received a 3D printed razor by Roger Quintero. He designed and printed it. It is pretty cool.

Mystery Haul

We came home from a trip out this morning and found this bag on the back steps with no note or indication as to who dropped it off. I later found out that it was a friend of one of my neighbors who dropped it off. I was able to thank him. He deals in estate sales and knew that I liked shaving stuff.

I took a peak inside and saw shaving stuff. If I find out more, I will post, but for now it is a mystery. There is a shaving bowl and a shaving mug. I noticed two soaps, two brushes, and a Gillette flare tip.

Now for a closer look. The bowl had a puck of Burma Shave Shave Soap and an Ever-Ready boar brush. Everything is dusty. It's been neglected for years.

Burma Shave was originally a brushless shave cream that you just rubbed on your face. The American Safety Razor Company acquired Burma Shave in 1997. They produced the soaps, selling them in sets with a cup and brush.

This cup was produced by Surrey and the razor by Gillette.

The flare tip is a B4 (1956).

The following mug, soap and brush were evidently a set at one time. Also, probably never used. They are products of Surrey, the predecessor of Van der Hagen Shave products.

Today's Haul

 Just in today: three 3D Printed razors and a 3D printed brush handle.

This very nice brush handle will be receiving a silver tip badger knot.

I won these two Schick razors in the TSD raffle, and the Gibbs 3-piece razor was thrown in by the benefactor.

The top picture was from the eBay auction. The magazine has one Schick twin blade. The middle is an E3 Schick. The third one is a G1 Eversharp-Schick. Below is after I cleaned them up.

I had made a walnut handle yesterday for this Schick, so, today I was able to join the two together.

I got forewarning that I was getting a gift. Then I found out that the gentleman on TSD was cleaning out razors and gear that he did not use. He told me I could do with it whatever I desired. I did not know what to expect. Then today, the wife told me there was a package on the front porch left by UPS.

Inside was a Coffee Mate container filled with unknowns.

In the bag was a strop and a container of old blades.

It was filled to the brim with stuff.

Eleven AutoStrops, four strops, AutoStrop blades, Feather blades, Gem 1924, Star 1912, Gem 1912, SE blades, three Christies, one Schick, five cases, an Edison, and an unknown SE razor.

Today's Haul 26 Oct 18

I found this trio on eBay. The brush is well used and ready for a re-knot. The Valet razor was pretty grungy, but it cleaned up very nicely. One of the blade stops was missing, but it is still functional. The Old Spice cup was well used too. I suspect these three spent many years together and their original owner passed away. Now they are in a home that will continue to appreciate them.

Here is the mug after cleaning. I have identified this mug as an Early Glass Mug 02 from the early 1950s. It has the Ship Friendship on front with a script O and S in the Old Spice. There are six ribs on the bottom inside of the mug that held the soap in place. 

On the bottom is marked "Early American Old Spice" in a top arc with "Shulton Inc., Clifton, N.J." in a bottom arc. The arcs are separated with a single star on each side.
