I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Old Spice Musk Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the Oscar11 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem 1905 Lather Catcher Razor using a Personna Pal CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

One of the handles that I was going to use for the TOST LE brushes had stains in the wood, so I decided that I would pull it over and make a wooden ferrule for it from my last piece of mahogany. Here are some pictures I took with the knot stuck in just for the pictures. I like the shape. It is basically the shape that the TOST LE brushes will be except they will have the polished aluminum ferrule. I am thinking of painting the bottom to cover up the stains.

Edit: I have decided to use the synthetic horse and not to paint the handle. I'm going with the clear coat.

I made #257 at the same time as I did #256, so I call them sister brushes.  #257 is made from Louisiana cypress. Here they are fresh off the lathe and having the flutes crafted.

Next, these are pictures of dry fitting knots after I had put a polycrylic finish on the handles. Later, I would decide to use the Maggard synthetic horse on both.

Here is #257 with its faux horse.

This brush did not hang around very long. It was adopted very quickly. I reluctantly let it go knowing that I can make another one. The only thing is, I may not be getting any more of the Louisiana cypress.

I was working on handles for a TOST Limited Edition brush today, and this one was a reject. The handle part was a bit too small, so I repurposed it. I had a couple of mahogany blanks, and I used one to make a ferrule for this brush. I drilled it out and shaped it in a bulbous shape. That will be the shape of the ferrules that Tom White is making from aluminum for the LE brushes. So, this is similar to what the LE brushes will look like except that the ferrule will be aluminum and it will have a different knot. This brush is not finished yet. I have not decided which knot to put in it. I am leaning toward the faux horse knot, far right.

Update: February 2
I decided to go with the two-band synthetic.
