This White Queen brush is made from oak. It was beautiful out today. I bit chilly, but a light coat made it comfortable to work on this brush handle.
Below the handle is dry fitted with a Maggard blonde synthetic.
Next, I have dry fitted the handle with a boar.
I have ordered an Omega 49 boar brush as a donor for this handle. It will make a great brush.
I have numbered the handle and put two coats of polycrylic on it. While I wait on the knot to arrive, I took a few pictures with a Maggard synthetic knot just for fun.
Update: January 2, 2019
Completed today. The Omega 49 came in. I harvested the knot, dressed it up to fit, and set it with epoxy.
I am getting better at harvesting Omega knots. With my knife, I pry up the knot just a bit. Then I pull the knot out.
Next, I use a hack saw and cut down the ferrule on opposite sides. Then with my knife's screwdriver blade, I pry the ferrule apart and remove it.
I dressed up the end of the knot so it would fit the handle.
I set the knot with epoxy. Here are the finished pictures.
Here it is in a brush and razor stand I made a few years back.
