Last minute change of plans. I decided to give my new horse hair brush a try. The Col Conk Bay Rum Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #198 horse hair brush. It lathered nicely, had good splaying, and just a little scritch. I did the two passes with the Gillette 195 razor and Personna Super blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. Red and Black Old Type

A friend on The Shave Den sent me this custom Old Type that he did custom Gun Kote coatings on.

He did a red and black coating that he baked on, and he had a special carbon fiber tube made for the handle.

He also turned this brush handle and did matching coating for it. The knot is a 20 mm silvertip badger.

Gillette New Improved Being Replated

I sent off my silver New Improved to be replated with rhodium. It arrived at its destination on June 9. The expected completion will be in the window of July 7-14. As of today, I am about halfway through the wait period. Here is what it looked like when sent.

I did two passes with the Gem 1902 Lather Catcher with a CVS blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave.
