Japanese Horse Chestnut

A young Aussie living in Japan adopted one of my brushes. He also dabbles in brushes. He sent me two blocks of Japanese Horse Chestnut to try out. This is the first of the two. I borrowed the design of this brush from a brush maker in Canada. It is pleasing to the eye and to the hand. The boar knot may or may not be the final knot for this brush. I will finish the handle before I decide on the final knot.

Update: First coat of polyurethane and two-band badger.

Update: April 29, 2017

I finished the brush today when I set the 2-band badger with silicone. It will be going out to its new home in Connecticut on Monday.
