Jayaruh #338 Complete


I tried something different with 338. I started with a blank that I cut on a diagonal to the grain.


I shaped it on the lathe and put grooves in the grip portion that were at a 45 degree angle.


I sealed and stained it with a dark walnut stain.


After I put a clear coat on the handle, I weighted it. It was 32g.


I drilled out the inside and filled it with a 5/8 threaded rod. That more than doubled its weight to 72g.


I set the knot using an Omega 49 boar knot. The finished brush weighs 102g.

Update: February 1, 2019

I reknotted #338 with a Maggard mixed badger/boar knot.

Here it is dry fitted.




Here it is with the knot set with silicone.
