This is the 1947 Gillette Super Speed. It is very hard to come by, and this one is in very good condition. The Super Speed was Gillette's new line of razors after WWII. The year is reasoned since Gillette did not add date codes until 1951. The 1947 Super Speeds did not have notched center bars. The notch was added in 1948 when Gillette introduced their blades in dispensers. The 1948-50 Super Speeds were notched. Starting in 1951 they were stamped on the bottom plate with a date code: letter for year and number for quarter of the year.
1947 Super Speed has an un-notched center bar.
I recently received this Van Der Hagen Boar brush and stand as a gift. |
